Cousin and Craft Time!

We are taking a break for a couple of days from school to play with my oldest niece. She is spending two nights with us while her parents completely renovate a house they just bought last week. Needless to say, we are in full blown craft mode! We have spend most of the morning and afternoon coloring, painting and creating, with the exception of a couple of hours in the church gym trying to learn how to pass, shoot and dribble a basketball! I should have taken pictures of that because it was really a sight to see! I thought they would have been exhausted from the line drills and sprints I made them run, but NO nappers here today! So, off to the craft table we went. We made one-eyed reindeer from candy canes, with only one of the candy canes being consumed before completion! That was my baby, of course, who had no self-control to wait until the end of the craft to receive his edible candy cane! Then, the little hands were getting into trouble again, so back to crafts. We glued foam shapes to make all sorts of crazy creations from angels to Christmas trees to snowmen and mangers. Enough of that, I think it is time to let the little energizer bunnies have some fun in the bath before dinner. After that we are taking a break from the house and going to look at Christmas lights! Maybe we will have some fall asleep on our journey?? Probably not, but at least momma will get to sit for awhile!! Till next time . . .

  1. Dabney,
A fun idea for our older kids is the Thimble game. We got the idea from Little House on the Praire books we have been reading as a family. If you don't know what it is, all you do is "hide" the thimble somewhere in your house. You just make sure you don't conceal the thimble. You can't hide it behind anything, it has to be out in the open. But you will be surprised how hard it is to find...that entertained our kids for some time. Let me know if you try it!
    Love ya,
    Steph
