Though we could never replace our old and very best neighbors from Jtown, God has given us two new neighbors who are super nice to us and the kids! They are twin brothers who live together and raise cattle. It is not uncommon for us to come home from an outing and find a bag of fresh produce sitting on our front "porch". Several times a week they bring us produce from their garden or produce that they have bought from the farmer's market. One rides a horse most nights and always stops to let the kids pet her. We have really become quite fond of them!
Robbie has gotten permission for the brothers to put cattle on our property (you all know it is not "ours", right??!!), so they have been busy getting the perimeter fence secured and bush-hogging the land. In the meantime, Robbie is asking questions about raising cattle and where he can purchase some for the Masonites! CR even asked for a cow for his birthday, to which Mom reluctantly agreed!
This morning, Robbie saw the two brothers loading something into the barn and assumed they were beginning to move their cows over here. Once they left, he went down to the barn to see what it was. He found 2 calves that he said I would fall in love with! He proceeded to make breakfast for us and did not tell the kids what he found in the barn. After breakfast, the brothers arrived back at our place and asked Robbie and the kids to meet them down in the barn. They showed us the calves and let the kids feed them from a bottle. Then for the surprise - they said the cows were for the kids! They ordered these calves from a neighbor farmer just for our crew - one for the boys and one for the girls! They are going to get the calves started and then show the kids how to take care of them! We were very surprised and the kids were super exctied!

Girl, that is the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time! See how the Lord provided for the desires of lil CR's heart?! You are soooo not moving anywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe you have cows!!?!?!? You are just not going to be a city girl any more! Guess you'll have to stay there forever! :)
ReplyDeleteGod is so good! I think God loves surprising us in the most unexpected ways.
ReplyDeleteCows are next on our "to-do" list. You will have to let us know how it goes so we can take notes!
