Playing catch up . . . again!

School let out and summer began with a bang around here. I haven't made time to update on our ever-changing lives, but plan to do that tomorrow! We have made some HUGE changes around here that I am so excited about!!! Any long time followers will be thrilled as well!!

But first, I have to catch you up on our life well lived in May.

For starters, I wanted to pass along a website where you can help with the Flood relief efforts here in Middle Tennessee. So many people are still devastated by the mounds of work left from the flood and struggling with the decision to rebuild or not. Hands on Nashville is a local non-profit that is helping coordinate much of the relief effort, but so many churches are as well. Check out there website if you are interested in lending a hand or making a donation.

This little guy LOVES ice cream! That is so far from an understatement! He screams for ice cream anytime he sees us eating it! Thankfully, us adults and all the older kids are pretty good at sharing! Baby W just makes his rounds to whomever will give him a lick!

GCA held a talent show this year that was so fun to watch! Both girls sang with some friends and CH played a song on the piano!

For Memorial Day, we headed out for an adventure at a local state park called Hidden Lake. We hiked a through some thick and steep woods to a lake that we could barely touch because it was so rocky and had a near death experience with MV slipping from a rock. Never a dull moment with us! We were all covered in ticks from this adventure and were ready to find some water to play in instead!

The best part, in my opinion, was finding our local Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. As we were leaving the state park, we happened to drive right past the cemetery that we had never seen before and couldn't resist pulling in since it was Memorial Day. We drove through and as soon as I saw people visiting tombstones of loved ones I began to cry. Here, we get to take a day off work to remember those brave men and women who have served our country and we don't even stop to think about them or there loved ones on this day. How easy it is to throw stones at our President for not visiting the Tomb of the Unknown soldier on Memorial day, and he should have. But shouldn't we do something as well? Our kids had so many questions after leaving the cemetery and good conversations followed, some that we had never had before. This was definitely the best part of our weekend!
